Sportbike Motorcycle Review: 2012 Ducati Monster 696

What Ducati wants with this naked sportbike is hide all the Monster powers underneath a compact and practical body. For the 2012 model year, Ducati carefully redesigned and redeveloped all components in order to provide less weight and more power.

Recognize the swingarm styling? That is because the 2012 Monster 696 sportbike takes the MotoGP-style swingarm which is constructed from chill-cast aluminum. According to totalmotorcycle.com, the gravity cast is heat treated so the components get the best mechanical characteristics and at the same time, reduced the final weight for improved handling.

This part always gets us chill because we all know how powerful the Ducati line-up is, right? For the 2012 Ducati Monster 696, this sportbike is powered by L-Twin cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve for every cylinder Desmodromic with 696cc displacement engine. Ducati assigns Siemens to handle the electronic fuel injection with 2 aluminum mufflers exhaust. Just like other Ducati’s bikes, the transmission is in 6-speed.
